CRUISING WITH BOB AND MARILYN SCHLOBOHM

The objective of this site is to provide some day to day accounts of our cruising life aboard our 34' catamaran "9 Lives". We hope all of our friends and family will join us from time to time and blog with us whenever they have the chance. Happy sailing!! bschlo@btinet.net.

Now the Fun (Work) Begins

We've finally made it to the boat yard to get an idea of what needs to be done to prepare 9 Lives to be put back in the water. We're going cabin by cabin and locker by locker to see what's there and whether we want to keep it or not. The first thing that we found out was that the previous owner had enough dishes and glasses plus fry pan, blender, toaster oven, etc to outfit 3 boats. So we will be removing a lot of stuff. The boat does have a full enclosure for the cockpit area, both screened and plastic. It was like putting a jigsaw puzzel together, but we finally figured it out and numbered the pieces so that next time it won't take so long to set up. The weather was beautiful for this kind of work. It was in the mid to upper 70's. Glad it wasn't any warmer since we were down below a lot.

We kind of met the guy that was working on his boat down from where we are. I pointed out to Marilyn that he had Wisconsin plats on his truck, so she immediately went to find out if he was a Packer's fan and where the best place would be to watch the game tomorrow. We found out that he and many others are Packers fans and they go to a place called the Glass Bottom Bar which is next to a restaurant called the "Pilot". We never did find out his name, but I'm sure we will. It just so happens that the bar is within walking distance from where we're staying, so you can imagine where we'll be tomorrow afternoon. We will be going back to the boat for at least the morning to keep on working.

Don't forget to send me your email address if you make your way to this blog. I need to save them all on my laptop. Till next time
